ARMINA MARSHALL
Actress signs away objections for the play Abe Lincoln
in Illinois to be broadcasted on television
Contract signed: "Armina Marshall" in black ink. 3 pages, 8½x11. First two pages are carbon copies of cover letter and contract for William Koppelmann for the television broadcasting rights for the play Abe Lincoln in Illinois. Last page is Marshall's signature agreeing that the actress on behalf of the Theatre Guild has no objections to use of the play for television broadcast. Dated February 4, 1947. Armina Marshall (1894 or 1895-1991, born in the Cherokee Strip of the old Oklahoma Territory), who first appeared on the Broadway stage in 1924, became a prominent playwright and producer. She was also a co-administrator of the Theatre Guild, which has produced 228 Broadway plays as of 2002. Marshall and Langer received a Tony Award for the stage version of Sunrise at Campobello in 1958 and a special Tony (1961) for organizing the first repertory group to tour the world for the U. S. State Department (at the behest of President John F. Kennedy). Normal mailing folds. Toned. Creased throughout. Light stains throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
