Signed agreement under which Creative Realms, Inc. loaned Archerd to George Schlatter Productions to serve as TV host of the American Comedy Awards in 1987
Document signed: "Army Archerd" twice and "George Schlatter", 3 pages, 8½x11. On behalf of Creative Realms, Archerd signs an agreement to lend his own services to George Schlatter Productions in order to serve as host/presenter at TV broadcast of the American Comedy Awards, May 18, 1987. Archerd commits to fulfilling the agreement with Schlatter, even if his employment contract with Creative Realms should expire in the meantime. Archerd has signed on pages 2 and 3, Schlatter on p3. ARCHERD (1922-2009), born Armand Archerd, had a daily column, Just for Variety, in the Hollywood trade paper Daily Variety for over 50 years (1953-2005). Although his specialty was inside information on the lives of Hollywood celebrities, Archerd's gentle and factual reporting meant that even publicity-shy stars would return his phone calls. He also appeared in several films, mostly playing himself. He wrote over 10,000 columns for Daily Variety and continued his journalism in a daily blog filled with entertainment news.TV producer and director SCHLATTER, born in 1932, created Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, after featuring the comedians at his Hollywood club. After producing the Grammy Awards, Schlatter established the American Comedy Awards. The date of this contract marked the beginning of the American Comedy Awards, a yearly event since. Nominated for 15 Emmy awards, Schlatter won twice for Laugh-In and once for the 60th anniversary special for Sammy Davis, Jr.Staple and holes at upper left corner. Paperclip impression at upper left.
