ARON KINCAID
Actor sends friend John Willis, editor of Theatre World, an update on his new projects
Autograph letter signed: "Aron" in black ink. 2 pages, 8½x11. November 12, 1984. Original envelope included. In full: "Dear John - What surprise to get the new Screen World. Once again you have "immortalized" me. Your listing me in Screen World is probably all that will be remembered of me since all the "color" films I did are turning red and falling to dust. The gesture was generous. I like the collage on Joan Bennett. Have you seen Hedy Lamarr around New York? Saw a photo of her on TV last night (she turned 69) and she look great! A young filmmaker out here made an 8 minute film on my paintings and it's selling on cable all over the world! It had a one week screening here to qualify for (are you ready?) an Academy Award nomination for animated short subject! Who knows. Stranger things have happened I guess. At any rate, it is exciting in an odd way. Commercials have been great for me but not one interview for a movie in 2 years! But I'm not finished yet!!! However, I've met so many famous performers (with Oscars yet) who seem to be in the same boat in the "New Hollywood", that I really can't complain. I long to hear about you vacation adventures (thanks for my post card). Was it swell? Hope this finds Mr. Goodbar miniatures in full supply, a 1-2-3- stew/sending garlic perfume throughout Riverside Drive. My very best". The feature film appearances ofAron Kincaid (1940-2011) extended from beach movies, beginning with Girls on the Beach (1970) to the slasher film Silent Night, Deadly Night (1974). His best known TV role was in the final season cast of Bachelor Father (1962). From the 1980s, Kincaid was in demand as a voice actor, with roles including the animated Batman. The Smurfs, Duck Tales and Transformers. Outside the acting profession, he found success as a model and a landscape painter. Kincaid had a major role in The Proud and the Damned (1972), a post-Civil War drama starring Chuck Connors. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Normal mailing folds. Light surface creases. Corners rounded. Otherwise, fine condition.
