The variety show host and author of Kids Say the Darndest Things signs this typed letter explaining what his favorite prayer is
Typed letter signed: "Art Linkletter" in black ink. 7¼x10½. March 21, 1955, on personal letterhead to "Dear Chaw Mank" in full: "In answer to your letter, my favorite prayer is the 23rd psalm. Thanks for your interest. Sincerely". Radio broadcaster, television personality and author Art Linkletter (1912-2010), hosted House Party, television's longest-running daytime variety show, on CBS from 1952-1969. The candid, often surprising responses from his interviews with youngsters on the show led to a series of Kids Say the Darndest Things books. He also hosted Inside Bevery Hills (1955) and The Art Linkletter Show (1963). More recently, Linkletter returned to television in a 1998 production of Kids Say the Darndest Things, which he co-hosted with fellow funnyman Bill Cosby. This item comes from the estate of Charles "Chaw" Mank Jr. (1902-1985), noted songwriter, author, bandleader, record producer, sheet music publisher, psychic, radio personality, silent movie theater organist, world champion pen pal, inveterate collector and Hollywood/music fan club pioneer. Toned. Normal mailing folds. Lightly creased throughout. Original envelope included. 6c stamp affixed. Otherwise, fine condition.
