ARTE JOHNSON
The actor is shown in character as the helmeted chain-smoking German soldier from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In in this black and white 4½x3½ photograph.
Photograph signed: "Smoking is/for dummies!!/Arte Johnson". B/w, 4½x3½. Depicted in his role as the helmeted, chain-smoking German soldier on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. Although comedian and actor Arte Johnson made several feature films and was seen on television from the mid-1950s, he is best known for his comic portrayals on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1968-1973) on which he appeared as the helmeted, chain-smoking German soldier with the trademark line, "Verrrrry interesting," and as "dirty old man" Tyrone Horneigh from 1968-1971). Johnson had made his television debut on the early series, It's Always Jan (1955-1956), and would have regular roles on Sally (1957-1958) and Hennessey (1959-1962) before finding stardom on Laugh-In. He has also appeared on the small screen in several made-for-TV movies, was seen on numerous variety and game shows, made guest appearances on a long list of TV series and lent his vocal talents to animated shows. His film credits include The President's Analyst (1967) and Cannonball Run II (1984). Slightly creased at upper left blank corner. Fine condition.
