The actor known for his hilarious characters on the screen signed this typed letter he sent to a close friend who is helping with his collection
Typed Letter Signed: "Arte Johnson" in green felt tip pen. Dated April 6, 1982. 6¼x8½. In Full: "I'll be out of L.A. for a few months but hop eto take advantage of your kind offer when I return. If you plan any mailings to me during April-May I would appreciate your holding them till June. At that time I'll be sending you a want list of the older German and Berlin FDC's that I'm looking for. Have a happy Easter. That is, if you can find the ground under the snow". Johnson is looking for help with the growth of his collection of First Day Covers. Although actor and comedian Arte Johnson (1929-2019) made several feature films and was seen on television from the mid-1950s, he is best known for his comic portrayals on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1968-1973) on which he appeared as the helmeted, chain-smoking German soldier with the trademark line, "Verrrrry interesting". Johnson made his television debut on It's Always Jan (1955-1956), and had regular roles on Sally (1957-1958) and Hennessey (1959-1962) before finding stardom on Laugh-In. He has also appeared on the small screen in several made-for-television movies, was seen on numerous variety and game shows, made guest appearances on a long list of television series and lent his vocal talents to animated shows. His film credits include The President's Analyst (1967) and Cannonball Run II (1984). Mailing creases. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
