Shown together in a promotional still for the comedy sequel.
Photograph signed: "John Gielgud", "Dudley Moore", "Liza Minnelli". B/w 10x8. Captioned movie still for Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1988). One of the theatre's greatest legends, SIR JOHN GIELGUD (1904-2000) spent almost 80 of the 96 years of his life playing major Shakespearean roles. He worked up to a month before his death, performing in over 50 films and numerous television productions when he was not busy with his stage work. He won British Academy Awards for Best Actor in 1954 for the role of Cassius in Julius Caesar and Best Supporting Actor in 1975 for portraying Mr. Beddoes in Murder on the Orient Express. He was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in 1965 for his role of King Louis VII in Becket and won in 1982 for portraying Hobson, Arthur's valet, in Arthur. DUDLEY MOORE (1935-2002) was a British composer, cabaret comedian and film and stage actor best known for his broad physical comedy and his hilarious high-brow performances with Peter Cook in the revue Beyond the Fringe. His films include 10 (1979), Arthur (1981-nominated for Best Actor Oscar and won the Golden Globe for Best Actor) and Micki and Maude (1984). He died from a rare brain disorder in March 2002. LIZA MINNELLI (b. 1946), the daughter of Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, won both the Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Actress for Cabaret in 1972. The star of stage and screen has also won two Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical (Flora, the Red Menace, 1965; The Act, 1978) and the 1972-1973 Emmy Award for Outstanding Single Program Variety or Musical (Liza with a "Z"). Minnelli was also nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe for The Sterile Cuckoo (1969) and was nominated for Golden Globes for Lucky Lady (1975), New York, New York (1977) and Arthur (1981). Arthur 2 was not as successful as its hugely popular predecessor. Gielgud made only a cameo appearance (in a dream sequence), while her performance won Minnelli a Razzie as Worst Actress. Lightly worn at bottom right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
