Typed note signed: "Arthur Bottomley" in blue ink. 1 page, 6x8½. Written on personal House of Commons letterhead. London, England. March 1, 1976. In full: "Dear Mr. Jones, In accordance with your request I enclose an autographed photograph of myself. With many thanks for your good wishes, Yours sincerely". Arthur Bottomley (1907-1995) was a British Labor politician who began his career as a union organizer for the National Union of Pulbic eployees, and eventually elected into parliament in 1945, a position he mostly held until his retirement in 1983. During that time he served as Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs (1946-1947), Under-Secretary for Commonwealth Relations (1947), Secreatary for Overseas Trade at the Board of Trade (1947-1951) and as Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations (1964-1966).
