Train/March 27, 1931", in black ink, 6x3¼. Arthur Cheney Train
(1875-1945) was an American lawyer and author, best known for his
legal thriller novels. He graduated from Harvard law school in 1899,
becoming an assistant in the office of the New York District Attorney soon
after. It was here that Train began writing, publishing his first story in
1904. He ran the two careers concurrently for several years until the
creation of character Mr. Ephraim Tutt, a lawyer who worked for the
common man to serve justice. He left law in 1922 to devote himself full time
to writing, publishing several short stories about Tutt, including a popular
book that was marketed as "Tutt's autobiography". Toned. Fold down center. Light
surface creases. Lightly worn and frayed on bottom edge. Paper remnants on
verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
