Signature of the prolific author of books about farm life
Signature: "Arthur G. Street", 3x1½ card. English farmer
Arthur George Street (1892-1966), writing as A. G. Street, wrote 37
books, mostly light fiction, portraying farm life without idealizing it. (He
also wrote nonfiction about agricultural policy.) His first book, Farmer's
Glory, was published in 1932, the last, Johnny Cowslip, in 1964.
Strawberry Roan was made into a 1944 film. Street also wrote for
newspapers and magazines, and was a frequent radio commentator, including
featured spots on the BBC's popular The Brains Trust. Toned. Pencil notes
(unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
