ARTHUR HILLER This letter to a fan is signed by the director, who mentions his favorite film Autograph letter signed: "Arthur Hiller", 1p, 7¼x10½. No place, no date, but 1984. On personal letterhead to "Dear Jim". In Full: "Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm glad you like so many of my films. Hope you'll like the new one - 'Teachers.' It opens October 5th. My favorite film of mine is 'The Americanization of Emily' written by a genius - Paddy Chaefsky. Best wishes." Canadian film director ARTHUR HILLER (1923-2016) made his debut in 1955 when he directed a few episodes of Matinee Theatre. After directing other television anthologies such as Playhouse 90 (1956-1958), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1958-1961), and Naked City (1961), he moved on to feature films. His directorial efforts include The Americanization of Emily (1964), Silver Streak (1976), The In-Laws (1979), The Babe (1992). He was nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe for directing Love Story (1970). Hiller's career behind the camera lasted over half of a century. Lightly creased at lower right corner, touching signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
