Inscribed, handwritten opening music and lyrics of his song "Thanks a Million"
Autograph Musical Quotation inscribed and signed: "To H De Long/Sept 17th 36/Hollywood/Calif./Sincerely Arthur Johnston", 7x3. He has handwritten words and musical notation for the first four measures of his "Thanks a Million" with bass and treble clef versions of the music. American composer Arthur Johnston (1898-1954) was pianist and stage director for Irving Berlin musicals before moving to Hollywood in 1929. He wrote the music to the Oscar nominated classic "Pennies from Heaven" (with lyricist Johnny Burke), and also "Cocktails for Two" (with Sam Coslow). He was enshrined in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970. Toned. Ink lightly smeared but legible. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
