ARTHUR LAURENTS. Signature: "Arthur Laurents/Oct. 18,
1971", 3½x2 card. Writer/director Laurents' play, West Side Story,
was the basis for the Tony and Academy Award-winning musical. He wrote a
number of other plays, including Home of the Brave (1949),
Summertime (1955) and Gypsy (based on Gypsy Rose Lee's
autobiography), and Laurents was the screenwriter for a number of films,
including Anastasia (1956), The Way We Were (1973, adopted from
his novel), The Turning Point (1977, for which he was nominated for an
Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay) and The Jazz Singer
(1980). Fine condition.
