Schlesinger Jr." in blue ink. 1 page, 7¼x10½, Addressed to young Ms. Lisa Robley, as a response to her uncle Michael Hurwitz' request of predictions for the future, to be given to her on her 21st birthday. Written on his personal City University of New York letterhead. New York City, New York. January 13, 1978. In full: "Your uncle has suggested that I write you what I think the future might hold for you. I suppose the future will hold for you, as it has held for all people since the beginning of time, a life of uncertainty, adventure, testing, peril, and perhaps, with luck, a measure of fulfillment. I hope you will live it to the full. Best of luck". Author and historian Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. was awarded two Pulitzer Prizes: the 1946 Pulitzer Prize in History for The Age of Jackson and the 1966 Pulitzer Prize in Biography for A Thousand Days, subtitled John F. Kennedy in the White House. Schlesinger had been a presidential special assistant and speechwriter from 1961-1964. Normal mailing folds. Slight surface creases. Slightly toned. Fine condition.
