7x10½. St. Petersburg, Florida, December 14, 1945. Written to: "Dear Captain
Ward:" in full: "I am sorry not to have written earlier, but I
have only recently returned from overseas and just last week passed through
separation center, so my correspondence has been slowed up. I should be honored
to supply my autograph, and I would like to add my best wishes for your steady
and speedy improvement. Sincerely yours". Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.
(1917-2007), historian and author of 16 books, was awarded two Pulitzer
Prizes: the 1946 Pulitzer Prize in History for The Age of
Jackson andthe 1966 Pulitzer Prize in Biography for A
Thousand Days: John F. Kennedy in the White House. Schlesinger was a
presidential special assistant and speechwriter (1961-1964). Toned.
