Autograph letter signed: "Arthur Miller", 1 page, 5x3 lined index card, Connecticut, circa March 1974. Written to "Dear Neil Silverman". In full: "Sorry, but the cast is dispersed now and I can only give you my signature". Accompanied by the transmittal envelope, addressed to Mr. Neil Silverman, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, postmarked U.S. Postal Service CT, March 25, 1974, with printed text reading "Arthur Miller" on verso. Arthur Miller (1915-2005) raised America's social consciousness with such plays as The Crucible (1953) based on the Salem, Massachusetts, witchcraft trials, and Death of a Salesman, the story of a man destroyed by society's false values, which resulted in a 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Miller, who was the second husband of Marilyn Monroe, also wrote The Misfits, a 1961 screenplay for the last full length film in which Monroe appeared. Slightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
