FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. American playwright Arthur Miller (1915-2005) raised America's
social consciousness with such plays as The Crucible (1953), based on the Salem,
Massachusetts witchcraft trials, and Death of a Salesman, the story of a man destroyed by
society's false values, for which he won the 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Miller, who was
the second husband of Marilyn Monroe, also wrote the screenplay for the 1961 film, The
Misfits, the last full-length film in which Monroe appeared. Signature touches postmark
(completely legible). Slightly creased. Pencil erasures at lower margin. Fine condition.
