AUTHORS: ARTHUR MILLER, TRUMAN CAPOTE and NORMAN MAILER
Three major American authors sign an un-mailed postcard.
Postcard signed: "Arthur Miller," "T. Capote," and "Norman Mailer," 51/2x31/4. Not addressed, not postmarked. Tan postcard with printed orange 4-cent Air Mail stamp picturing an eagle in flight. The signers are identified in ink (unknown hand) on verso. ARTHUR MILLER, Marilyn Monroe's second husband and author of The Crucible and A View from the Bridge, was awarded the 1949 Pulitzer Prize in Drama for Death of a Salesman. Miller has signed across the stamp. TRUMAN CAPOTE, a novelist, playwright, and short-story writer, wrote In Cold Blood (1965) and Breakfast at Tiffany's (1958), which was released as a film in 1961. NORMAN MAILER, essayist and author of The Naked and the Dead (1948), was awarded the 1969 Pulitzer Prize in General Nonfiction for The Armies of the Night. This journalistic work recounted the peace demonstrations in Washington, D.C., in October 1967, where Mailer was jailed and fined for civil disobedience. Paperclip just touches the "T" in Capote's signature, vertical fold touches the "i" in Mailer, light stain under stamp. Fine condition.
