ARTHUR PAGET The government official who served as equerry to Queen Mary pens this cryptic letter Autograph Note Signed: “I fear I had forgotten the/ existence of Mrs. [name difficult to decipher]/ whatever has been done/ in broaching the matter,/ except that it became a/ great disappointment./ Yours very Sincerely”. 5½x5¾ letter affixed to a 8x9½ sheet. Clipping concerning the Duke of Teck affixed. Captain Arthur Wyndham Louis Paget (1888-1966) was the son of General Rt. Hon. Sir Arthur Henry Fitzroy Paget and Mary Stevens. In 1928, he married Rosemary Victoria Lowry-Corry. After attending Wellington College, Paget was elevated to the rank of Captain in the service of the Irish Guards. From 1919 to 1921, Paget was the Honorary Attaché to Rio de Janeiro. Then, from 1921 to 1928, Paget was Honorary Attaché to Paris. In addition, he was both Equerry (1936-1940) and Extra Equerry (1940) to Queen Mary. For his service to the crown, he was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.). Corners on paper on which letter has been written are irregularly cut. Letter paper toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
