Black and white head shot photo of Treacher wearing a suit and tie, Inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/From Arthur/Treacher". B/w 8x10. Arthur Treacher (1884-1975) quickly established himself in butler/servant roles in films, notably in several Shirley Temple films. He was awarded top billing in Thank You Jeeves (1936) and Step Lively Jeeves (1937), both based on the butler character created by P.G. Wodehouse. His last film was Mary Poppins (1964); he was a recurrent guest star on The Beverly Hillbillies that same year. In addition to his film roles, his recognition exists today through the franchising of his name, Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
