ARTHUR TREACHER
The recognizable character actor signs his name for a fan in black ink
Inscribed signature: "To Elsie/Arthur Treacher", 6x4½ album leaf. In pencil. From the autograph collection of Mrs. Elsie Myrus, wife of the mental telepathist Myrus (billed as The Man With X-Ray Eyes). Mrs. Myrus would collect autographs from celebrities attending her husband's performances. Arthur Treacher (1884-1975) quickly established himself in butler/servant roles in films, notably in several Shirley Temple films. He was awarded top billing in Thank You Jeeves (1936) and Step Lively Jeeves (1937), both based on the butler character created by P.G. Wodehouse. His last film was Mary Poppins (1964). He appeared in several episodes of TV's The Beverly Hillbillies that same year. In addition to his film roles, his recognition exists today through the franchising of his name, Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips. Slightly creased. Binder holes at left edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
