Furriss' artwork.
Autograph Letter signed: "Arthur à Beckett", 1 page,
4½x7. Whitefriars, London, no date. To "Dear Sir", in
full: "Will you kindly send me by bearer the proofs of Mr. Furniss' cuts.
Yours sincerely". English journalist and humorist Arthur William à
Beckett (1844-1909) wrote for Punch magazine (1874-1902) and was
editor of the Sunday Times (1891-1895). He wrote several humorous

wrote to comedy plays, and a novel Fallen Among Thieves (1869). Edges
frayed. Harry Furniss (1854-1925) was an illustrator and caricaturist
who drew for Punch from 1880 to 1894. He illustrated two novels by
Lewis Carroll, and - after moving to America - drew the first animated
cartoon film for Thomas Edison. Toned with multiple mailing folds.
