ANTHONY M. KENNEDY
Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote a note at the end of this 1993 letter, typed by his secretary on his personalized Supreme Court stationery, to say that he'd seen a play and "found it fascinating, to see & to think about afterwards."
Autograph note signed "Anthony M Kennedy". 1 page, 5¾x9, on Kennedy's personalized stationery form the Supreme Court. In full: "Alan: I saw the play in New York and found it fascinating, to see & to think about afterwards." Kennedy wrote this note as a postscript to a March 23, 1993 letter typed by his secretary Linda L. Jamison, thanking Mr. Alan Fox of Brooklyn, New York for helping her get tickets at the National Theatre in Washington, D. C. Anthony M. Kennedy (b. 1936) was appointed Associate Justice of the Supreme Court by President Reagan in 1988. He started his tenure on the Court with a highly conservative voting record, voting with Justices Rehnquist and Scalia 90 percent of the time and, with Justice O'Connor, contributing votes to conservative majorities. Later, though, he began to vote more independently and from a civil-libertarian perspective. He also co-authored the court's majority opinion in the 1992 abortion rights case Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey. Kennedy retired from the Court in 2009. Lightly creased. Pen skipped while writing signature, which is still legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
