Benjamin N. Cardozo signs a card in March 1932.
Signature: "Benjamin N. Cardozo/March, 1932", 5x2¾ card. Benjamin Cardozo was Judge (1914-1926) and Chief Judge (1926-1932) of the New York Court of Appeals, then he was appointed Associate Justice of the Supreme Court by President Hoover and was sworn in on March 2, 1932 to succeed Oliver Wendell Holmes, who had retired at the age of 90. Cardozo, the second Jewish Associate Justice, served until his death in 1938 at the age of 68. He believed that the courts should not merely interpret the law but help create it, particularly in adapting it to changing social conditions. Light diagonal crease at upper left blank corner. Lightly soiled and shaded. Rust paper clip impression on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition.
