Halsey, Secretary of the Senate. In full: "Inasmuch as you are a
friend I hold in such esteem, it cheers me greatly whenever I hear from you. I
am hoping my court duties will permit me to call on you personally before court
adjourns." Appointed by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1940, FRANK MURPHY
served as Associate Justice until his death in 1949. EDWIN A. HALSEY
was Secretary of the Senate from 1933-1945, being appointed an honorary Colonel
by two Governors of Virginia. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
