GABRIEL DUVALL. Signature: "G. Duvall", 3x1½, affixed to 4x2½ card. Gabriel Duvall (1752-1844) served as a Democrat representing Maryland in the U.S. Congress from 1794-1796. From 1802-1811, he was First Comptroller of the Treasury. Appointed by President James Madison, Duvall served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1811-1835, when he resigned because of deafness. Signature sheet is lightly creased with folds, light vertical fold at the "a" of Duvall. Signature and mounting sheets are lightly soiled. Overall, fine condition.
