The U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice signs a note to a collector.
Autograph Note on Supreme Court Card signed: "With best wishes to/Wm D. Moore/from/Harold H Burton/Associate Justice/10-11-45", 4¼x3¼. Imprinted: "Supreme Court of the United States/Washington, D.C." Signed just ten days after Burton became an Associate Justice. Harold Hitz Burton (1888-1964) was Mayor of Cleveland (1931-1932, 1935-1940) and Republican U.S. Senator from Ohio (1941-1945) before being named to the Court by President Harry S Truman. Burton, a former WWI veteran and attorney, served as an Associate Justice from 1945-1958. Slightly creased at upper right blank corner. Minor scratches (barely visible) at upper portion. Otherwise, fine condition.
