Black/U.S. Senator from Alabama/ March 1927 to August 1937/Washington, D C/Nov.
8' 1948". 5x3 ruled card. Black (1886-1971) served as Democratic
Senator from Alabama (1927-1937) before being appointed to the Supreme
Court by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, serving from 1937 to 1971. On the
Court his judicial opinions supported President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New
Deal economic and social legislation. Later he became noted for his defense of
the Bill of Rights as an absolute guarantee of personal rights. Lightly toned
and worn, otherwise in fine condition.
