Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 5x1½, mounted to a same-size
card. Clipped closing from an autograph letter. Bradley (1813-1892),
appointed by President Ulysses S. Grant to the Supreme Court in 1870, served
on the 1877 Electoral Commission created to decide the outcome of the disputed
1876 presidential election; his vote made Rutherford B. Hayes the
President.He served as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court
until his death. Lightlytoned and soiled. Paper clip at top edge,
which touches signature. Adhesive residue on verso (no show-through). Irregular
edges. Otherwise in fine condition.
