Autograph Sentiment signed: "Very truly yours,/Joseph P. Bradley/Justice of Supreme Court/U.S.," 3¾x2¾. Joseph P. Bradley (1813-1892), appointed by President Ulysses S. Grant to the Supreme Court in 1870, served on the 1877 Electoral Commission created to decide the outcome of the disputed 1876 presidential election; his vote, as the least partisan member of the Commission, made Rutherford B. Hayes the President. He served as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court until his death. Toned. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
