States, dated 1882
Signature: "Sam d. Blatchford/Associate Justice of the/Supreme
Court/April 28th, 1882", in black ink, 3½x2¼. Samuel D. Blatchford
(1820-1893) was appointed district judge of the southern district in New

in 1882 and served until his death in 1893. Blatchford, a noted authority on

for patent infringement. Justice Blatchford died 6½ months later on July 7,
1893. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Corners slightly worn. Toned. Slightly
