Autograph Sentiment signed: "With best wishes/Stanley Reed", 5¾x3½. Stanley Reed (1884-1980) was U.S. Solicitor General (1935-1938) and presented the government arguments in numerous New Deal cases. Appointed to the Supreme Court by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1938, Reed was considered a moderate and often held the balance between the liberal and the conservative members of the Court in split decisions. He retired in 1957. Lightly toned around edges. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
