Washington, D. C., April 11, 1962 FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Stanley Reed was U.S.
Solicitor General (1935-1938) and presented the government arguments in numerous
New Deal cases. Appointed to the Supreme Court by President Franklin Delano
Roosevelt in 1938, Reed was considered a moderate and often held the balance
between the liberal and the conservative members of the Court in split
decisions. He retired in 1957. Lightly creased. Ink is slightly smudged. Typed
information below signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
