Album leaf signed by Supreme Court Justices Samuel F. Miller, Stephen J. Field and William Strong. All three signers served together during the last three years of the Salmon P. Chase court and the first six years of the Morrison Waite court.
Signatures: "Sam F. Miller/Associate Justice/Sup. Court/U.S.", "Stephen J. Field/Associate Justice of/U.S. Sup Court" and, on verso, "W. Strong/Associate Justice of the Supreme Court/of the United States". 7½x4½ album leaf with rounded right corners. All three signers served together during the last three years of the Salmon P. Chase court and the first six years of the Morrison Waite court. Appointed by Abraham Lincoln, SAMUEL F. MILLER served as Associate Justice from 1862 until his death in 1890. Also appointed by Lincoln, STEPHEN J. FIELD served as Associate Justice from 1863 until he retired in 1897. Appointed by Ulysses S. Grant in 1870, WILLIAM STRONG served as Associate Justice until he retired in 1880. Lightly toned. Show-through touches Miller and Strong's signatures. Miller and Field's signatures have bled lightly in places but are legible. ¼-inch vertical tear at edge with tape repair on Strong's side. Slightly shaded edges. Neatly torn from album at left edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
