Clark". B/w, 7¾x9¾ overall, image 6x9 (one surface). Special Assistant in
the Justice Department (1937-1943) and Assistant Attorney General (1943-1945)
under FDR, Clark (1899-1977) was appointed Attorney General by Truman in 1945
and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1949. When his son Ramsey was
appointed Attorney General by LBJ in 1967, Tom C. Clark resigned as Associate
Justice to avoid any possible conflict of interest. Fine condition. Lightly
creased in lower left corner. Faint 1x½-inch stain in center of left margin.
