Printed Letter Signed: "W. Strong" as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, 1p, 5x2. (Washington), 1876 February 7. To Francis Miller, Sec'y. In full: "Please send me a Ticket for the Third Annual Banquet of the Yale Alumni Association, of Washington City. Enclosed find Five Dollars." A printed form, probably removed from a printed letter announcing the Banquet. Strong was graduated from Yale College in 1828 and taught school in New Haven, Connecticut. He served as a Democratic Congressman from Pennsylvania (1847-1851) and was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Grant in 1870. He retired in 1880 at 72 and resumed the practice of law. Light crease in upper left blank corner. Fine condition.
