Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Robert/Best always/Audrey Meadows". B/w, 8x10. Audrey Meadows (1926-1996) was born in Wu'chang China, the daughter of missionaries, and spoke only Chinese until the age of 6. Her acting career began when she appeared on Broadway for a few months in Top Banana (1951). She then got a job on The Bob And Ray Show on NBC (1951). In 1952, Meadows was hired to play Alice Kramden on "The Honeymooners", a comedy sketch which was shown during the second half hour of The Jackie Gleason Show on CBS (1952-1957). Nominated for four Emmys for Best Supporting Actress in a Regular Series (1954-1957) for this role, she won the award in 1955. Meadows later starred in a few films including That Touch Of Mink (1961) and Take Her, She's Mine (1962), later appearing as Ted Knight's mother in law in the sitcom Too Close For Comfort (1982-1983). She was married to Continental Airlines CEO Robert Six from 1961 until his death in 1986. Her sister was actress Jane Meadows. Lightly bowed. Corners lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
