appearance on the TV program Under Discussion
Document signed: "August Hecksher", 1 page, 8½x11. New York
City, N. Y., 1964 September 23. He signs assent to a form from Metropolitan
Broadcasting ceding to the company all rights to his appearance on the TV show
Under Discussion for a discussion of "The Modern Man", allowing the use
of his name and image for promoting the program, and holding the company
blameless in any liability arising from it. Historian and public intellectual
August Hecksher II (1913-1997), the grandson of industrialist August
Hecksher, was known for his laudatory biography of Woodrow Wilson. He was
President Kennedy's Special Consultant on the Arts (1962-1963), the first
ever official Presidential cultural advisor. He served as Parks
Commissioner under New York Mayor John Lindsay (1967-1972). Light surface
creases. Corners slightly worn and creased. Slightly toned. Otherwise, fine
condition.
