speech on the Cath'c Question? If you have, will you let me have a few-. I am sir yr
obet servt". "The Cath'c Question" here is probably emancipation of Catholics from
discrimination in Britain and Ireland, an issue which came to a head during the
premiership of George Canning in 1827. Sir Robert Peel, an able anti-Catholic
parliamentarian and founder of the Conservative party, resigned from Parliament
over this issue. Stapleton (1800-1880) was the private secretary for Foreign
secretary George Canning until 1827 in which Canning became the Prime Minister.
After the short lived term as Prime Minister Canning passed away and Stapleton
went on to compile a biography per Canning. Toned with foxing throughout.
Mounting residue can be seen at edges. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
