AURELIO RODRIGUEZ
The Gold Glove third baseman remembered for his powerful throwing arm signed this
Detroit Tigers baseball card
Trading Card Signed: “Aurelio Rodriguez”. 2½x3½. Statistics on verso in unknown hand. Not
a very robust hitter, Aurelio Rodriguez (1947-2000) was an excellent defensive third
baseman who played in the Major Leagues (1967-1983) for seven teams, including the
Detroit Tigers (1971-1979). He played for three teams in the postseason, including four
games of the World Series for the 1981 New York Yankees. After 89 games for the Padres in
1980, he was sold to the Yankees on August 4. Rodriguez was blocked from winning the
Gold Glove by Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson for most of his career, but finally won
one in 1976. His biggest fielding asset was his ability to throw the ball across
the diamond with a ton of velocity to get hitters out. Miscut. Edges worn.
Otherwise, fine condition.
