Autograph Note signed: "For Tommy/Always/Avril/Angers" in
purple ink, 5x3 card. With a black and white magazine photograph of her affixed
(2 surfaces). British actress and entertainer Avril Angers (1918-2005),
the daughter of comedian Harry Angers, was one of the country's first
female stand-up comediennes, and she became known as "the Lucille Ball of
the United Kingdom". Angers, who began her career on the stage and became
well known for her cabaret performances, made her film debut in
1949 (Skimpy in the Navy), and she was first seen on television in
How Do You View? (1950-1951, 1953). Angers had her own TV series,
Dear Dotty, beginning in 1954, and she would go on to appear on the
small screen through 1997 (in the TV miniseries, Network First: Victoria and
Albert). Fine condition.
