McCullough", New York City, in full: "Please find autograph enclosed. [No separate item included.] In 1870 I was Speaker Iowa House of Representatives". Aylett Rains Cotton (1826-1912) went to California during the Gold Rush (1849), and then returned to his native Iowa as a county judge, prosecuting attorney, Mayor of Lyons, and state legislator, serving as he notes here as Speaker. A Republican, he served two terms in the US Congress (1871-1875). Lightly toned. Normal mailing folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
