BABE MOVIE CAST: JAMES CROMWELL, CHRIS NOONAN, CHRISTINE CAVANAUGH
Laserdisc cover for the Oscar-winning children's movie Babe, signed by director Noonan, who earned two Oscar nominations for this movie, and stars Cavanaugh, who was the voice of Babe the talking pig, and Cromwell, who earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Arthur Hoggett.
Laserdisc cover signed "Chris Noonan" and James/Cromwell" in black ink and "Chris/Cavanaugh" in blue ink. Color, 12¼x12¼. Disc not included. ©1995 Universal City Studios, Inc., ©1996 MCA Home Video, Inc. Noonan directed Babe (1995), a special effects-heavy kid's movie based on the book The Sheep Pig by Dick King-Smith. Cavanaugh voiced the title character Babe, a pig trying to avoid the butcher's block by learning to heard sheep, with Cromwell starring as gruff but ultimately kindly farmer Arthur Hoggett. Babe garnered a fistful of Oscar nominations, including two for Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium and a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Cromwell, and won one Oscar for Best Special Effects. CROMWELL, born in Los Angeles, California in 1940. Tall and lean, Cromwell got his start on the stage, including two appearances on Broadway in Othello (1970) and Hamlet (1992). He has almost 140 films and TV shows to his credit as well, starting with a 1974 appearance on The Rockford Files. Most of his Hollywood appearances were on the small screen until the 1990s, when he starred as farmer Arthur Hoggett from the animatronic and CGI-laden children's movie Babe, which earned him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. This helped to launch Cromwell's movie career; almost all of his starring appearances, including the corrupt police captain Dudley Smith in L. A. Confidential (1997). Star Trek fans may recognize Cromwell as Zephram Cochrane, the selfish and frowsy scientist who invented warp drive, from Star Trek: First Contact. NOONAN, born in Sydney, Australia in 1952, is an Oscar-nominated Australian director, screenwriter and actor. Noonan has 10 directing credits as of this biography, starting with his first short film Could It Happen Here? (1969), which won a prize at the Sydney Film Festival. But he's probably best known for Babe, a children's film about a sheepherding pig that won a richly deserved Oscar for Best Special Effects and earned Noonan nominations for Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium. CHRISTINE CAVANAUGH (1963-2014), was an American actress with almost 60 movies and TV shows to her credit. Most of her work is in voice acting, including the voice of the talking pig Babe in Babe and baby adventurer Chuckie Finster in Rugrats (1991-2001), as well as Gosalyn Waddlemeyer-Mallard in Darkwing Duck (1991-1993), Oblina in Aaahh! Real Monsters (1994), Marty Sherman in The Critic (1994-1995) and kid genius Dexter in Dexter's Laboratory (1996-1998). Lightly creased and scuffed. Light impression from disc on cover. Lightly scratched (not visible head-on). Otherwise, fine condition.
