THE BACKSTREET BOYS: BRIAN LITTRELL and HOWIE DOROUGH. Photograph signed: "Brian" and "Howie/[peace symbol]". Color, 8x10. BRIAN LITTRELL is the cousin of fellow Backstreet Boy, Keith Richardson, and the two performed together as youngsters before Richardson moved to Orlando to work at Walt Disney World. While there, Richardson met HOWIE DOROUGH, Nick Carter and A.J. McLean and formed the band, named after an Orlando flea market. Littrell was invited to join, and the Backstreet Boys had their first successes in the United Kingdom and Europe (beginning in 1995). It was not until 1997 that the Backstreet Boys burst upon the American scene with their debut album, Backstreet Boys, with its hit single, "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)". Their next album, Millennium (1999), went platinum, and, although none of the songs were released as singles, "I Want It That Way", "Larger Than Life", "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" and "The One" all charted based on airplay alone. After seven years of non-stop recording and touring, the group took a break, rejoining in 2004 to work on a new album, Never Gone, which was released in 2005. The group, which has sold over 73 million albums and played to legions of fans, has also faced challenges. In 1998, Littrell underwent surgery to correct a heart defect, but he became a father during the group's break. Dorough, who lost a sister to lupus, founded and is active with the Dorough Lupus Foundation. Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Lightly soiled at upper right background. Overall, fine condition.
