Barbara Delinsky (b. 1945) is an American writer of romance novels, 19
of which have been New York Times bestsellers. After earning a
Master's degree in Sociology from Boston College, Delinsky worked for the
Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, and later
serving on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Massachusetts General
Hospital Cancer Center and their Women's Cancer Advisory Board. After the birth
of her twins in 1980, Delinsky decided to write, and her books include The
Passionate Touch (1981), The Silver Fox (1983),
Knightly Love (1982), For My Daughters (1994) and
Sweet Salt Air (2013). Her novel A Woman's Place
(1997) was made into a Lifetime television movie starring Lorraine Bracco.
In 2001, Delinsky branched out into nonfiction with the book Uplift:
Secrets from the Sisterhood of Breast Cancer Survivors, which as a
breast cancer survivor herself, she donates the proceeds to charity, even being
able to fund an oncology fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
