Signature: "Barclay Henley/ Santa Rosa, Cali" in black ink. 7¼x3¼ clipping. Barclay Henley (1843-1914) was a United States Representative from California. An Indiana native, Henley moved to San Francisco with his parents at the age of ten, where he would study law and open a practice in Santa Rosa. Henley was a member of the State assembly from 1869 and 1870 and served as the district attorney of Sonoma County in 1875 and 1876. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1882, and would serve two terms until 1887. Irregularly cut. Toned. Left edge frayed with small tears. Small pinpoint ink stains throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
