Barfly (1987), based on the autobiographical short stores of Charles Bukowski, features Mickey Rourke as an alcoholic writer and brawler who finds a soul mate in fellow boozer Faye Dunaway in this tragicomic film. Between 1962 and 1967, FAYE DUNAWAY (b. 1941) established herself on Broadway, including appearances in A Man For All Seasons and After the Fall. She achieved stardom with her Oscar-nominated film performance in Bonnie and Clyde (1967). Nominated again for Chinatown (1974), she finally earned a Best Actress Oscar for Network (1976). In 1981, she portrayed Evita Peron on television and Joan Crawford on the large screen (Mommie Dearest). Other prominent Dunaway performances include The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) - with an appearance in that film's remake (1999) - Three Days of the Condor (1975) and Barfly (1987). Born Philp Andre Rourke, Jr. in 1956, MICKEY ROURKE launched his acting career with small roles in 1941 (1979) and Heaven's Gate (1980) before being noticed in Body Heat (1981) and Diner (1982). He followed with admirable work in Rumble Fish (1983) and The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), and then gave a bravura performance as fanatically determined police captain Stanley White in Year of the Dragon (1985). His 1987 performances in Angel Heart, A Prayer for The Dying and Barfly attest to his agreeing only to work with directors and on projects that meet his high standards of acting. Rourke, who later starred in the infamous 9½ Weeks (1986) and Sin City (2005), had been trained as a boxer during his younger years, and he briefly returned to the sport in the 1990s, sparring with such world champions as James Toney, John David Jackson and Tommy Morrison. Rourke retired after seven professional bouts, never having a shot at a title, but he received several facial injuries which required multiple operations. ALICE KRIGE (b. 1954) is a television, film, and stage actress from South Africa who made her onscreen debut in the 1975 film Vergeet My Nie. Since that debut, Krige has been cast in over eighty-five titles including Barfly (1987), Amanda (1996), The Calling (2000), and more recently her role as Emma Baron in the television movie Page Eight. Krige also found success on the stage in such productions as Arms and the Man at London's West End. She is married to Paul Schoolman, a writer and director in the industry. Fine condition.
