Clark holds Roman in his arms in a still from the film.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Dave/Best Wishes/Ruth Roman", "Sincerely/Dane Clark". B/w, 10x8. RUTH ROMAN (1922-1999) began her film career in 1943 in an uncredited role in Stage Door Canteen. She would go on to appear in several feature films until 1983 (Echoes). Roman's credits include Gilda (1946), The Big Clock (1948), Colt .45 (1950) and Maru Maru (1952). She is best known to TV audiences for her roles as Minnie Littlejohn on The Long, Hot Summer (1965-1966) and Sylvia Lean on Knots Landing (1986-1987), and she made numerous made-for-TV movies and guest appearances. In 1956, Roman and her son, Richard were aboard the Andrea Doria when the ship sank after colliding with the Stockholm. DANE CLARK (1915-1998) usually played a tough guy, often one from his native Brooklyn, in war and western movies of the 1940s and 1950s. His most highly regarded films included Moonrise (1948) and Go, Man, Go (1954). He starred in the TV series Wire Service (1956) and Bold Venture (1959), making dozens of guest appearances on such programs as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone and The Untouchables. In Barricade (1950), Clark and Roman play fugitives employed by an unscrupulous mine owner (played by Raymond Massey). Roman signature lightly beaded and bled but legible. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
