BARRY BECK
The All-Star defenseman shown dribbling the puck for the Colorado Rockies in this 5¼x7½ photo
Newspaper Photograph Signed: "Barry Beck," in red felt tip. Color, 5¼x7½. Photo affixed to cardstock. All-Star defenseman Barry Beck (b.1957) played ten seasons in the NHL from 1977-1990 with the Colorado Rockies, New York Rangers, and the Los Angeles Kings. Drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 1977, Beck played two full seasons with the Rockies until 1979 when he was traded to the New York Rangers. Playfully teased for his lack of aggressiveness as a shooter on the ice, Beck was coined the phrase, "Shoot the puck, Barry," by Ranger broadcaster Bill "The Big Whistle" Chadwick which is a phrase still known and used by Ranger fans today. Beck made the 1978 and 1982 NHL All-Star teams, and in 2009 was ranked number 62 on the All-Time list of New York Rangers in the book 100 Ranger Greats. In the NHL, Beck played 615 games, scoring 104 goals and aiding in 251 assists. Toned. Pencil note in unknown hand on verso. Otherwise fine condition.
