BARRY GOLDWATER. Typed Letter signed: "Barry", 1p, 8½x11. On personal letterhead. Scottsdale, Arizona, 1987 September 9. To Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Washington, D.C. In full: "The last time I flew with you, over Phoenix, you commented to me, where are the swimming ppols? You would think the people out here would have them. I flew the other day, and I finally found a few. Knowing of your great love for our water, and the system, I'm enclosing a photo of it. I hope this finds you in the best of health. Keep on doing a good job. Give your wife my love. Sincerely," Barry Goldwater (1909-1998), U.S. Senator from Arizona (1953-1965, 1969-1987), was the unsuccessful Republican presidential candidate in 1964, losing to President Johnson.
